Call for Art Volunteers: City Walls at City Hall

OVERVIEW

WHAT IS IT?
City Walls at City Hall is a Bend arts initiative created to meet several strategies identified in The City of Bend Arts, Beautification & Culture Commission’s strategic plan including:

  • Develop City Walls at City Hall to highlight local artists
  • Support efforts to promote the cultural history of Bend
  • Advocate for arts, beautification and culture to increase the vitality of Bend
  • Advocate for the business development aspect of arts, beautification and culture
  • Advocate for the presence of venues to support local artists and their mediums

City Walls is a uniquely themed quarterly art show held at Bend City Hall and built around
the overall theme of inspiring community with art.

Who’s Involved?
ABC Commission: The ABC Commission will set the vision of the program. A minimum of one commissioner will oversee the management of each show.
Volunteers: A volunteer group of artists and art appreciators is being formed to help in creating a jury pool and in fulfilling the general logistics it takes to bring each show to fruition.

Partners: Each event partners with one or more Bend organizations to help raise awareness of their presence and mission in our community in relationship to the show theme.

Artists: Artists will be residents of Bend and follow the criteria set forth in each show’s prospectus. Acceptance into the show is determined by a jury. The artist will receive 100% of the sale of their work.

How Will This Happen?
The costs to bring City Walls to life include advertising, promotional materials, posters, programs, exhibit items and show hospitality. Affordable sponsorship opportunities are being created for local businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in.

When Will This Happen?
The first show will open on First Friday, May 6, 2010 and will close Friday, July 29.
