Insights Discovery Imagine if you had a 1970s-style mood ring – but the changing colors would tell you the best way to communicate with each of your clients and colleagues – and transform how you do business.
The Insights Discovery profile is that “mood ring.” It uses a simple, memorable color system that helps identify communication styles and connect with others in a faster, easier, authentic way. It can jump start a team, sales force or self-promotion efforts by helping you make connections that usually take months to develop.
This is a tool used by large corporations like Nike and Microsoft to increase productivity, communication and ultimately revenue, but it can be adapted for small businesses, non-profits and individuals. After completing this session, you'll be able to recognize your own strengths and weaknesses as well as recognize what communication style is best for dealing with a red, blue, yellow or green personality type.
“Doing the Insights Discovery session is an advantage in dealing with and influencing clients,” said Debra Weekley, a business/personal effectiveness consultant in Portland and presenter at the Bend WebCAM (Web + Creative And Marketing) Conference. Weekley’s career in advertising and marketing started in New York City at Saatchi & Saatchi, blossomed at Wieden + Kennedy, where she was a key architect of Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign.
Lynnette Braillard, marketing director of Visit Bend, thought she had a keen sense of her personality type and was able to "read" others easily – until, that is, she took the Insight Discovery profile. It gave her a completely and different understanding of herself, she said.
“What I thought I was communicating to the outside world wasn't what I was portraying at all,” she said.
The session gave her key clues into identifying people’s personalities and strategies for effectively communicating her message.
“It has not only improved my communication with my boss and co-workers, but helped me with my sales efforts, relationships with vendors, partners, board members and ultimately my marketing audience,” Braillard said. “As a marketer, understanding your audience and customer is crucial and being able to influence or persuade by speaking their language is absolutely priceless.” Prior to the workshop, participants do a 20-minute online evaluator and receive their personality profile at the workshop.
