 Jim Riswold, (Keynote Speaker)
Artist/Creative Director, Wieden+Kennedy, Portland,OR
www.jimriswold.com
Jim Riswold is a legend in the advertising world: and may soon become a legend in the medical world. After earning three degrees from the University of Washington and being hired as Wieden+Kennedy’s first copywriter, he turned the ad world on its ear with 14 years of award-winning work on the Nike account. He's the reason you know that Bo knows. He's the reason you are Tiger Woods. He's the reason Michael Jordan became “Air Jordan” and then “Hare Jordan” Despite that, he still got kicked off the account seven times. He left his position as Creative Director after being diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. During his treatment, contemporary art became his creative outlet. And soon, his offbeat photographs of historical bullies like Hitler, Mussolini and Mao were shaking up the art world. As he nears a miraculous recovery, his experience and irreverent wit are put to good use as an instructor for Wieden+Kennedy’s 12.

W+K12 seeks to discover different ways to create together, while serving as a laboratory for the advertising industry's best practices and newest thinking. It’s an experiment. It's a school. It’s a mini ad agency. And an idea factory. But they also have time to do art projects, make films, and go on adventures. In W+K12, they learn to solve problems
